Life of a teacher.
In block 1, it was my first time experience handling full workload and taking all the responsibilities of a teacher. It was overwhelming at times, but in block 2 I was better equipped, I felt more confident as I have developed effective strategies to manage my time and the classroom activities.
The most challenging activities were classroom management
and engaging all learners during lessons. I overcame these challenges by using
varied teaching strategies, incorporating interactive activities, and
establishing clear rules and routines that learners understood and respected.
For example, I used a bathroom pass to ensure no more than three learners were
outside at a time. Using resources like colourful pictures and allowing
learners to take charge of their learning by writing on the board, leading
corrections, and reading, made the lessons more engaging.
Based on my self-evaluation, I feel prepared to enter the
profession as a beginner teacher. I have gained essential skills in lesson
planning, classroom management, and gained enough content knowledge, but I
believe that I must continue learning, as because there is always room for
improvement and growth.
My initial self-evaluation highlighted areas where I needed
improvement, assessing learners in reliable and varied ways. Comparing this to
the final assessment, it is clear I have made significant progress. My mentor’s
positive feedback confirms that I am ready to take on the role of a teacher,
having shown growth and adaptability throughout my teaching experience.
Entering a new environment can be extremely overwhelming but I am glad you were more confident in block 2. It shows growth. I loved that you incorporated different teaching strategies to adapt to your learners needs. I am glad this journey gave you an opportunity to grow and focus on area of improvements. You are going to be an amazing teacher Refentse!
