Life of a teacher.

In block 1, it was my first time experience handling full workload and taking all the responsibilities of a teacher. It was overwhelming at times, but in block 2 I was better equipped, I felt more confident as I have developed effective strategies to manage my time and the classroom activities. The most challenging activities were classroom management and engaging all learners during lessons. I overcame these challenges by using varied teaching strategies, incorporating interactive activities, and establishing clear rules and routines that learners understood and respected. For example, I used a bathroom pass to ensure no more than three learners were outside at a time. Using resources like colourful pictures and allowing learners to take charge of their learning by writing on the board, leading corrections, and reading, made the lessons more engaging. Online Microteaching.

1. What went well during your online microteaching lesson?  I effectively engaged learners by using interactive online tools, enhancing their understanding and participation. 2. What challenges or obstacles did you encounter, and how did you address them? The primary challenge I faced was network connectivity problems, which disrupted communication and access to online resources during the lesson.  As it was my first time teaching online, I was unable to come up with solutions to this challenge.  During my reflection, I realised that I could have had a pre recorded lesson or worksheets that learners could have used when I lost my  network connection. 3.Did your lesson meet the learning objectives you set out to achieve?  No, not all objectives were met. Due technical issues, I was not able to reach some of the objectives I was aiming to achieve.  4.   Did you choose appropriate ICT tools to teach your online lesson, explain why? Yes, I chose appropriat...

My Social Action Project

The planting project successfully educated learners on the importance of gardening, engaging them through interactive questions and rewards. However, a challenge was managing the large number of learners, as over 40 students in each of the three Grade 7 classrooms made it difficult to involve everyone in the planting phase. Service-learning has made me more aware of the importance of community engagement and the positive impact small actions can have, fostering a sense of responsibility and connection. Professionally, service-learning has enhanced my skills in planning, organization, and communication. I gained practical knowledge about gardening, learned how to organise school activities, and how to manage learners outside of the classroom. The school will benefit from the produce grown in the garden, which can support school meals or be shared with the community. By sharing the project on social media, we created awareness and encouraged community involvement, supporting the su...
